I chose a late path as a creative after surviving a devastating cancer diagnosis as a young adult. Christine Skibola, grew up with the influence of her fatherвЂ™s cosmic fascination, and pursued a prestigious career as a research scientist first at UC Berkeley as a professor and cancer researcher and then at the University of Alabama Cancer Center as an endowed chair of genetic epidemiology. The passage eloquently describes the origins of the universe, a reminder of how small, yet how connected we all are to each other and planet earth. I hope that a future exists where mom-and-pop businesses making really beautiful products can survive.One of my most treasured possessions is a hand transcribed passage of Carl SaganвЂ™s by my grandfather, who was a reclusive artist. As craft producers, many of us were the pioneers and we continue to support the small farmers who got us here-not to mention we make the best products. Now more than ever, it's critical to support small businesses and brands. This brand is so personal to us and we want our customers to feel the love and care that comes through in the medicine that we make. I think that it creates a sense of intimacy. As a designer, I love to add small details to packaging like a note inside of a tincture box or small messages on our packaging. Unlike most other manufacturers, we make everything ourselves by hand, including all of our herbal infusions. I'm generally focused on the brand and the packaging and my mom makes the formulations and sources ingredients. I'd like to think that we have a very special combination of skills. How do you balance each other and how does this impact your products? You and your mother bring unique perspectives and backgrounds to Cosmic View. Most of us are legacy operators so there's a pact that we all have to make it even if we're 'competitors.' I've seen some truly beautiful acts of generosity and collaboration. Last year, I came together with a bunch of small conscious manufacturers to share resources and support and that has been a true lifeline, especially during these tough times. There is still a culture of secrecy and everyone can be rather private about their struggles. What does the experience look like to a female-founded company? What tips can you share to other women who are considering working in the industry?ДЇind your people! Cannabis can be such a lonely road. The cannabis industry is still new and constantly evolving.

I was living in New York when she suggested we start a collective in 2017. She naturally gravitated toward cannabis as another medicinal plant.
